About
“Success in Life Through Volleyball”
Tennessee Volleyball Association’s mission is to promote and improve the sport of volleyball across the state of Tennessee. TVA is an organization that focuses on Girls High School and Club Volleyball, along with Sand Volleyball and Indoor Adult Leagues. The Tennessee Volleyball Association seeks to provide the most comprehensive website totally dedicated to the sport of volleyball in TN. While not associated with any particular club or high school, TVA does seek to assist both coaches and athletes to become life-long students of the game.
Tennessee Volleyball Association seeks to improve the sport of volleyball through many different avenues including: summer camps, coaching clinics, and team camps. In the summer of 2009, TVA hosted its first ever All-Skills Camp and Coaching Clinic @ Page HS. This year, TVA will again host an All Skills Camp and Coaching Clinic at Nashville Christian School along with many other events. Check out the events section of the site for a complete listing of all the up-and-coming camps and clinics that TVA will be running this summer.
About Us
Currently the Tennessee Volleyball Association is under the direction of its founder, Troy Helton. Coach Helton has been playing and coaching volleyball ever since his high school days back in Rochester, NY. Over the past 5 years, Troy has coached both guys’ and girls’ high school volleyball with tremendous success; winning 2 District championships, 1 Regional championship, and 1 State Runner-up trophy. Coach Helton has also coached club volleyball for Orlando Gold, Impact (Nashville), Alliance VBC (Nashville) and most recently started his own volleyball club (Ethos) that has grown in 2 years to have 18 teams in 2 different locations (Cookeville & Nashville). Currently Troy is serving as the head coach at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville, TN.
Coach Helton has a love for coaching and for seeing volleyball grow wherever he has lived. In 2009, with the help of several other coaches, he founded the Tennessee Volleyball Association in an effort to improve volleyball across the state. In the first year of operation, the TVA hosted 2 camps & 1 coaching clinic.
